The conquest of Mecca
Eight years before the conquest of Mecca at the hands of the Muslim army under the leadership of the Messenger of Allah, may Allahs prayers and peace be upon him and his family, Muslims set out from Mecca towards Medina to escape the vulnerability, injustice, persecution, starvation and warfare declared by the Quraish tribe and its Arab polytheists in the peninsula from which Mecca occupies the middle position of it.
But Allah blessed Muslims, after their patience with the Messenger of Allah in his migration to Medina for eight years, during which the Muslims were exposed to the aggression of the polytheists more than once. And to conspiracies and treachery even by those who pledged with them to good neighborliness respect the conditions on which the treaties were concluded.
Moreover the last to breach the terms of the covenant with the Messenger, may Allahs prayers and peace be upon him and his family, was Quraysh itself.
Quraysh breached the treaty that they had signed with the Prophet in Al-Hudaybiyah and persisted in the aggression. Even they went to incite its allies, Bani al-Dul that are descendants of Bani Baker, on Khuza’a who are the allies of the Prophet (PBUH) and defeated them by Quraish’s help. The news reached the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and his family, so decided to grant Khuza’a victory. Thus the prophet prepared his army and called “Ali,” peace be upon him, and made him the commander of his army and the bearer of his banner.
Meanwhile in the course of the Muslims the Messenger of Allah knew that betrayal had taken place, and that there is one of those who are with him sent a woman to warn the Quraysh of the Prophet’s army.
So what was done by the Imam, peace be upon him, is that he went himself and al-Zubayr ibn al-Awam joined him to capture the spy. When he found her, she denied her intention, so the Imam, peace be upon him, shouted about her: The Holy Prophet says that you have a book sent by a traitor, give it to me. She was terrified of his look, and after Al-Zubayr was convinced that she was innocent, she took out the book and handed it over to the Imam. He turned her back to Medina and cut off the Quraysh’s knowledge of their news.
After a path equal to 400 km, which is the distance between Medina and Makkah Al-Mukarramah, the army of Muslims arrived at a place called “The Dhahran Pass,” a few four kilometers from Makkah. So the Muslims camped there, and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace and his family, commanded that every Muslim in his army to lit fire, so that the Quraish would see the enormity of the army after surprising them by their presence at its outskirts.
Ten thousand Muslims lit their fire, after that Quraysh saw that fire filled the distant horizon. Which led Abu Sufyan, Badil bin Waraqqa, and Hakim bin Hizam to rush out towards the flames, to know their source and the intentions of their owners. When they approached the location of the Muslim camp, they were terrified, and Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib, who came with the army, met them on their way and said to Abu Sufyan: If you do not fight, no one will attack you, so they returned to Mecca, psychologically defeated, before the fighting began.
Finally Muslim’s army entered to Mecca without any threshold.
However after the Prophet, may Allahs prayers be upon him and his family, camped out with his army, he entered the Holy Mosque, then Quraysh met with the Messenger and said to them:
“O Quraysh, what do you think that I am doing with you?”
They said: "Good, generous brother and generous nephew." He said, "PBUH": "Go, you are free." So this is how the banner of Islam rose in and around Mecca.

Imam Ali and the conquest of Mecca

Ibn ShahrahShub mentioned the virtues of the Abu Talib family:
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, carried Ali and raised him to reach the height of the base of the idol "Hubl", one of the idols of the Arabs, and the Imam, peace be upon him, destroyed and damaged it.
On the other hand Amir al-Muminin, Ali “peace be upon him,” played a greatest actor in the conquest of Mecca after the Messenger of Allah, “peace be upon him and his family.” He was the one who stopped Hatib bin Abi Balata’s snitching, and he was the one who entered the banner of Tawheed and the conquest of Mecca, and he who broke the idols of polytheism.

Who called today is the Day of Mercy?
It was narrated in Notification of Al-Wuri, and Ibn Al-Atheer, in Al-Kamil in Al-Tarikh, and on the authority of Dirar Ibn Al-Khattab Al-Fihri: “The Messenger of Allah, may Allahs prayers and peace be upon him and his family, commanded his army not to disobey anyone, and not to shed anyone’s blood, and when he was informed that Saad bin Ubadah was one of the bearers of the brigades of the Islamic army shouted: Today is the day of an epic, today the sanctity lapses. The Messenger, may Allah prayers and peace be upon him and his family, commanded Ali,“peace be upon him,” to take from him the banner of the faction who was his commander and forbade him from saying that. Then the Imam shouted to the Meccans about what the Messenger of Allah had ordered him to proclaim, and said:
"Today is the Day of Mercy, today the sanctity is protected."

Hadiths of the Prophet about Imam Ali in the battle:

Regarding the behavior of Khalid bin Al-Walid in the battle of the conquest, and when Imam Ali bin Abi Talib "peace be upon him" performed what he took, on that day he said to Ali: "I ransom my parents."
Al-Halabi narrated “In Al-Seerah Al-Halabiyya” about Ali “pbuh”: “When the Messenger of Allah damaged the idols, there was nothing left but the idol of Khuza’a wrapped with iron pegs. Then, "PBUH", said to Ali: Treat it, so I treated it, while saying: "Uh, uh," The truth appeared and falsehood was lost, the falsehood was null”. I did not treat it until I got it, so I threw it and it was broken.

Poems about the battle:
The Prophet "PBUH" was keen to enter the Kada at the top of Makkah in fulfillment of the words of its author, the creative poet Hassan bin Thabit, when he composed about Quraysh a poem and told them that the horses of Allah Almighty would enter from Kada. This poem is considered to be the most beautiful one of Hassan said:
We executed our horses if you do not see it provoke the soaking, its time at Kada
The aunts quarrel with those who listen on their shoulders
Our horses remain covered, women protect them with gears
Either they were exposed to us, we went for a pilgrimage and the cover was opened
Otherwise, be patient for the executioner on a day when Allah glorifies whomever He wills
Gabriel is the Messenger of Allah in us and the Holy Spirit is incompetent
And Allah said, I have sent a slave who says the truth is that the calamity will benefit
I witnessed it, so they believed it, so you said: We do not and we will not
Did not I inform Abu Sufyan about me in a wrong way, as it remained hidden
That our swords left you a slave, and the slave of the house, and the slave-girls prevailed
You uttered Muhammad, and I answered rather than him, with Allah, in that penalty
Do you spit it out but you are not efficient ?! So your partners are for your good redemption
Blessed, Blessed, Righteous, Tender, Amen Allah, His goodness
A security that the Messenger of God will deny you, praise and support him equally
My father and his father are accidental to offer Muhammad to meet you
My tongue is firm and faultless, and my tongue is unperturbed by buckets
